Besides the obvious that a roller coaster is an amusement park ride it’s also defined as any phenomenon, period, or experience of persistent or violent ups and downs, as one fluctuating between prosperity and recession or elation and despair.
That could also relate to your weight, your fitness habits and your general wellness.
One day you’re all gung ho and ready to eat healthy & clean, work out more and take care of yourself…
A few days later as you’ve gone up the steep (and scary) incline, you find yourself teetering at the top nervously anticipating the speedy plunge down the tracks.
You need to be consistent and steady in your lifestyle habits…
losing weight slowly & safely, eating healthier foods on a regular basis (not eating healthy one week then gorging on fast food, processed junk the next).
These are just a few of the effects of roller coasting eating & wellness habits:
-Negative Psychological Effects. If you continue on the roller coaster ride your body and mood will go up and down just like the roller coaster. That’s not good for your mental health and wellness. Some people feel extreme guilt or feelings of failure and neither are healthy or justified.
-Weight Gain. If you eat unhealthy foods or even healthy foods in larger than necessary amounts you’ll gain weight. Gaining weight adds stress to your body and its organs. You want to maintain a healthy weight.
-Weaken Your Immune System. By not taking care of yourself regularly it can play havoc with your immune system, leading to more colds, easier to get sick and run down.
Ways to get off the roller coaster:
Make gradual, yet steady changes to eat healthier.
Don’t get overwhelmed.
Take it day by day, change by change.
Don’t have an all or nothing mentality.
Any change for the better is better than no change.
