When a coach binges…loses control
Somehow people think that coaches, trainers and the like never lose control blow it. Well, they (I) do! and did :( I just bought some nuts and lots of them and needless to say I also ate lots of them too...combined with some really scrumptious, tempting, sinful healthy organic dark chocolate candy. (I'd take a pic but ummmm they're all gone now). But, I may have … [Read more...] about When a coach binges…loses control
Trials, Tribulations, Turtles Tuesday
Sticking with my Tuesday "T" theme... we have trials, tribulations and turtles. Sure, you probably understand the first two, but turtles? What do they have to do with trials and tribulations? note: this is not the same turtle who hangs out during my morning lake walk ;) Yesterday, I posted a note on Facebook discussing a few thoughts on trials and tribulations along … [Read more...] about Trials, Tribulations, Turtles Tuesday

Duck attack!
This morning (like every morning), I was walking Chico around the lake to do his business. Happened upon the same turtle from yesterday sunning himself again. This time I couldn't get as close because he was ready to dive in as I was trying to get phone camera working (one day I'll figure out how to work it quickly) You'll probably want to click on image to view … [Read more...] about Duck attack!
How accurate are calorie monitors?
I decided to experiment and see how accurate calorie monitors are. Cardio machines such as bikes and treadmills use standard formulas to figure out how many calories are being burned. However, important factors aren't taken into consideration: weight (unless the machine does have the capability to insert that info), body fat percentage and level of fitness. A person with … [Read more...] about How accurate are calorie monitors?
So, you say you have no time to make dinner
So many people have a lousy excuse claim they have no time to make dinner. They say they're in a rush, they're hurried after work, their kids have practice, it costs too much, blah blah blah. I posted a question on Facebook: how many wait until the weekend to really cook, enjoy food? or do you prepare food every day? Here are some of the responses: Christie … [Read more...] about So, you say you have no time to make dinner
Do you pay attention to your BP & Pulse?
How many of you monitor your blood pressure and/or your pulse(heart rate)? I do on occasion and this morning I'm kinda bummed. My BP is 103/70 which is actually a bit high for me. But, the part that totally threw me off...my pulse! Why on earth is it 66 bpm? I'm normally around 48-55, that's a far cry from 66! Here's a blood pressure chart you can utilize for when … [Read more...] about Do you pay attention to your BP & Pulse?
Is it worth it? do you really want it?
Many people deal with emotional eating, giving into their cravings, over eating and other eating issues. Ponder this for a brief moment before eating something that would be an indulgence, is one minute (if that long) of pleasure worth undoing the effort you've already put in? Consider this, an average serving of chocolate cake with frosting is about 340 … [Read more...] about Is it worth it? do you really want it?
National Donut Day & Review of The Original Donut Factory
Today, June 3rd is National Donut Day. So, to celebrate it I did a review of the Original Donut Factory and made some donuts last night for today. I'm sure you're saying, "Ummm Tara, donuts aren't healthy" But, these are a bit healthier since they're not fried...(good justification right?) Seriously though, I am going to be working on some healthy mini donut recipes to … [Read more...] about National Donut Day & Review of The Original Donut Factory
