Sticking with my Tuesday “T” theme…
we have trials, tribulations and turtles.
Sure, you probably understand the first two, but turtles?
What do they have to do with trials and tribulations?
note: this is not the same turtle who hangs out during my morning lake walk ๐
Yesterday, I posted a note on Facebook discussing a few thoughts on trials and tribulations along with Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Then later I came across
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of
many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith
develops perseverance.
James 1:2-3
Guess I really needed to hear that message huh?!
God has a way of reminding us and getting messages to us when we really need them.
This was this morning’s message:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6
ok, so I know I’m going to go through tribulations, defined by Dictionary.com as grievous trouble; severe trial or suffering.
Whoa, I don’t want grievous trouble, suffering…
But, I will and am going to encounter it (oh yea, wait I’m dealing with that right now), whether I want to or not.
Like He said, it builds our faith.
Personally, I kinda wish the construction phase was over and I could enjoy for a bit.
Meanwhile, back to the turtle.
Have you ever rescued a turtle on the road that got flipped over?
I have, a few times in fact (happens a lot here in S. FL where there’s so many canals, lakes, etc. and they get on roadway and get flipped).
I’m sure countless drivers pass by and never stop to get the turtle back safely upright and to water.
Do you ever feel like a turtle?
Flipped upside, helpless, waiting for someone to rescue you and help you back to the safety and comfort of home?
I know I have…
when I do, I spend time praying and trying not to get worried, overwhelmed…notice I said trying not.
We’re not supposed to worry, we’re not supposed to be anxious but yet I find that I do at times (when it seems everything is caving in) but those are the times to really focus on Him and the Word.
So, I’m working on that…the not worry aspect and the total trust and faith part.
Won’t you do the same?
Worry doesn’t solve anything, so why bother doing it?
That’s my motto for the day along with the scriptures mentioned before and am focusing on Him and not feeling like that poor upside down turtle.
