If you read this blog or my tweets, Facebook posts you know I have had issues with my back and even managed to give myself a bad case of frostbite!.
Yesterday I did go to the chiropractor and found out my hip was locked and had pinched nerve.
So, I’m on road to recovery and got the go ahead to ride bike again.
He mentioned I had done all the right things prior to my visit–yoga stretches, ice, acupressure mat (except for the frost bite but in my defense he did say he usually sees that at least once a week! So, now I don’t feel so dumb).
I’d been doing yoga poses and laying on my Acupressure mat with pillow (until the frostbite that is, then it bothered me too much because of that not because of my back itself)
Laying on the acupressure mat helps to loosen tension, relieve stress, and reduce pain.
It’s suggested you start off slowly, using for 10-15 minutes until you get used to it.
You may also want to put a thin sheet between you and the mat.
I; however, enjoy it bare skinned (I like to feel things…evident by the frostbite since I couldn’t feel the ice through the towel so had ice packs directly on back!)
Benefits of Using the Acupressure Mat:
Relieves stress
Reduces pain in back, neck, hip, shoulders, joints
Help with migraines
Improves quality of sleep
Improved circulation
Supposedly helps with the appearance of cellulite too since the acupressure points stimulate and increase blood circulation and oxygenation, leading to smoother healthier skin.
How to use the Acupressure Mat:
Place your acupressure mat on a flat surface (I use mine on the floor on my bed)
Lie carefully on your back with your skin in direct contact with the contact points for optimum results (or use a thin sheet between you and the mat until you get used to it).
Lie still, breathing slowly and evenly.
Use for at least 10 minutes the first couple times.
When your body has acclimated itself to using the mat you can increase your time (I actually end up falling asleep on mine)
Question of the day
Have you ever hurt your back?
Have you ever used an Acupressure Mat?
What’s your favorite color?

I’ve always wanted to try one the of mats. They really seem like they could be a big help. I have a lot of lower back pain and have wondered if it would work on that area.
