Responsibility means the state or fact of being responsible – which is defined as answerable or accountable, as for something within one’s power, control, or management.
In today’s society, it’s easy to put the blame on someone (or something) else rather than accept responsibility.
We live in a world of blame…
It’s your boss’s fault that you didn’t get a promotion
It’s the food manufacturers fault that you don’t eat healthy
It’s the fast food places and restaurants fault that you’ve gained weight
It’s the economies fault that you don’t eat food that’s good for you
You get the idea, right?
We all have decisions to make daily…
whether we get up and go to work (even when we don’t feel like it)
to eating healthy and exercising or blaming others.
Time for a responsibility reality check please.
The fast food places didn’t force their food down your throat.
I know, it’s “easier/faster” to eat on the run by grabbing some fast food.
It is possible to eat healthy (even when on the run)
Plan ahead and have fruit or other healthy easy to hold, easy to eat foods with you.
You’ll feel better, lighter and have more energy eating something healthy opposed to fat laden, calorie laden, chemical processed foods that will slow you down and ultimately make you feel tired and sluggish…that’s the last thing you need to be feeling while you’re busy tackling your day.
The same goes for exercising.
Nobody is literally forcing you to sit on the couch instead of getting up and getting active.
Don’t use the excuse that you “don’t have time” to exercise.
You can find 10-20 minutes in your daily routine to make time for being active.
If you’re stuck at work in an office all day, get up and move…
I’m not an “office person” and yet worked in one week+ ago and had to keep myself ‘busy’ while waiting at the copier for 7 hours one day!
Get up and take a walk, stretch, do yoga, do anything to get the body active.
5 or 10 minutes is better than not doing anything at all.
You’ll start to notice you feel better, and you’ll want to make more time to exercise.
I have a confession which only a few people know about (until now)
I was active in jr & senior high, then moved to FL.
I worked outside (doing roofing, road construction, whatever…just to be outside, get a ‘workout’ and get paid).
*note* I did not work road construction dressed like this…lol
this was for a photo shoot
and yes, that’s me with sun bleached hair (hey it happens when you’re outside in FL sun 5 days week from 7 a.m-4 p.m)
Then there came a point when I (for whatever reason) just said forget it and stopped caring about the exercise, my weight and what I looked like.
I would gain weight, lose weight, gain it, lose it…typical yo-yo diet.
I simply didn’t care…maybe (probably) I wanted people? to like me for me…and not for the physical aspects.
Which now thinking about it was really lame and stupid but whatever….
At my highest weight (and yep I’m going to post it here for the first time ever for the general public to see), I weighed 198 lbs.
(I didn’t weigh that much with either of my pregnancies!)
That’s a lot for a barely 5’4″ frame.
People knew I gained weight but didn’t realize how much!
Though, many didn’t realize I got up to that weight, compliments of my football player shoulders!
They (broad shoulders) can be a blessing and a curse at the same time…
blessing because I can carry weight without showing how much
curse because I can carry weight without showing how much
-so I know I can get away with it.
My weight has varied from 113 pounds (shortly after I gave birth to my daughter who’s now 15)
and I looked like a toothpick with boobs to put it bluntly, then up to 198 pounds which was miserable for me.
My ‘ideal/comfortable’ weight for myself is 123-127 (this is just where I feel best-not by any charts, etc.)
My weight right this moment (well as of 5:30 a.m.) was 142 lbs. (yep, I’ll admit to that-knowing that it’s not where I’ll be staying)
So, I still have 15-19 to go to be where I want to be.
I’m not getting back into shape and working out for anyone but myself.
The people who remained close and friends when I was at my heaviest are still with me and now it’s time to get back to where I want to be!
For me!
So I can live by example, live a healthy vibrant life!
