It’s almost spring break (ok well it IS spring break for us here in South Florida)
And many of you will be traveling…
if not during spring break, soon over summer.
Here are some quick healthy & fit tips for when you’re traveling. First of all, make sure to check The Comfy Traveler where you will find all the traveling essentials you will need.
Make sure you pack your workout clothes and shoes…that way you have no excuse!
If you’re driving, stop every now and then and get out and stretch & walk around. If you’re flying, get up and stretch on flights. Moving around helps circulation and you won’t feel so tired once you arrive at your destination.
Once you reach your destination, walk to go sight seeing.
Try something new…surfing, skiing, whatever is popular in the area you’re visiting.
Visit the hotel gym (most places have gyms, pools with the best pool covers, spa). If not see if there’s a gym locally you can visit while you’re traveling.,
Enjoy the local foods, but don’t totally over indulge. Be aware of your caloric intake (and that includes drinks too!)
Stay hydrated. Drink six to eight glasses of water a day.
Get a good night’s sleep. Sleep is just as important eating healthy and maintaining your workout schedule.
Book a massage or visit the spa at the hotel to help unwind, alleviate stress and tension and simply allow yourself to relax and enjoy.

When I go on vacation, I always plan short workout routines. I try to get involved in sports activities wherever I go; for me it is a great way to stay active and on shape.

Every single vacation we go on, I find a race to run (sometimes more than one). Other than to visit family, we don’t go back places, but so far my favorite places have been Australia and Alaska. Both were pretty awesome.

this is SUCH an important topic. especially for me… I’ve always traveled frequently. With being shuffled across the country to visit my dad, and a huge passion for traveling – I spend a good 60% of my time doing it… It wasn’t until last year that I actually started paying attention to exercising during my trips. oooof. nothing like a week of over indulging and not making up for it to totally screw with all your hard work…
also I love going down south. THE BEACH. i miss it now that i dont live near it. sigh
