Q: Have you always lived a healthy fit lifestyle?
My journey to healthy living began when I started playing soccer at 8 years old. I loved everything about the sport, even the weekends spent driving all over for tournaments. But as my love for the game grew, so did my obsession to be the best. Whenever my team would suffer a tough loss, I would put all the blame on myself. If only I’d ran faster, jumped higher, or kicked farther we could have won. This way of thinking drove me to practice longer and harder. When I would suffer an injury, such as when I tore my meniscus in my knee, I would chose to play through it. Broken bones, sprained ankles, and bulging disks in my back all couldn’t keep me from the field. Then one day I woke up and realized that my training to become the best, was actually only making me worse. At 23 I now ache and hurt in places most 50 year old women don’t, but my journey has taught me a lot. I now strive to build my body up, not break it down. I still sometimes struggle with giving myself a day off from training, but I’m getting a lot better at listening to my body and giving it the love it needs.
Q: What keeps you going, motivated?
The thought that I could help other girls and young women like myself is what keeps me going. I want to do all that I can to be a good role model and example for them, and teach them to respect and love their bodies.
Q: What is your favorite workout?
Obviously soccer is one of my favorite workouts, but when it comes to training I love my kettlebells and speed ladder! In the summer I love to hit the beach for runs by the water and I also like running with my mom’s dog Reese. She’s the fastest dog ever and keeps me challenged!
Q: What are some of your goals?
My current goal is to reach 5 unassisted pullups. I’m at 2 right now!
Q: What are some of your accomplishments or things you’re proud of?
I’m really proud of all the medals I’ve won with my soccer teams over the years. I’ve never been much of a one woman only show, and I love competing with my team mates on the field.
Q: What is one random fact we should know about you?
I love sports. Football, soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis. Just call me one of the guys.
Q: What words of advice would you like to leave the readers?
Listen to and love your body. It loves you and works hard for you! Treat it with respect and love and it will take you far.

5 pullups, that’s a great idea! I can’t even begin to do one, I need to do some major upper body strength.
Great feature, thanks for sharing!
