The people in your life should inspire you, boost your spirits, be there when you need them, bring joy & happiness to you…
If they aren’t, then you may want to rethink who you let into your life…who you want to invest your time, energy, love on…who will get the privilege to be in your life. And, yes it is a privilege to others to be in your life. You’re a wonderful person, you give your time and emotions to others and while you don’t expect anything in return it would be nice if some of them were there to support you (especially after they’ve always thrown out that easy to say yet hard to do line of “if you ever need anything, let me know” & “let me know how I can help you“.
If a friend is in trouble, don’t annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it. ~Edgar Watson Howe
If you’re one of those people who claims to want to help your friends, then stand up and do what you say and be a real friend, support those in your life, love them, be all you can be for them, encourage them, and simply be there for them. You’ll bless them and in thus doing so, you’ll be blessed as well.
If you’re a believer, then take these scriptures into consideration. In doing so though, we’re not to be door mats for others to take advantage of, use, treat improperly…You have to find the fine line and decide what the difference is between serving and abiding by what He says and the worldly aspect of being taken advantage of, being used.
So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another. ~~Romans 14:19
Therefore encourage one another with these words. ~~1 Thessalonians 4:18
If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. ~~John 13:14
But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. ~~ Galatians 5:13
Basically, be the type of person you’d want in your own life to others that are in your life!
