In February, I posted about standing out, being yourself and last week a friend of mine and I were talking about what it means to be successful and how it varies for people.
Perhaps it’s the status thing or simply their own ego that makes them view success as something that they’ll work so hard to achieve yet lose themselves or others during their pursuit of it.
Some view success as the huge house, SUV’s in the driveway, material things, etc.
Others view success as being happy doing what they love, enjoying life, not stressing over bills brought on by the love of materialistic things and simply being who they want to be.
Personally, at this point in life I’d consider success to be able to do what I enjoy (be it health/fitness coaching, inspiring others, detailing cars, working outside…whatever) and provide for my family and be able to bless others. That to me is success.
Being me….in a world where most people won’t or can’t be themselves.
It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. ~e.e. cummings
Success as defined by Dictionary.com:
~the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like.
Would you prefer “position” if it meant you weren’t doing something you truly enjoy or being yourself?
There is only one success – to be able to spend your life in your own way. ~Christopher Morley
Success without honor is an unseasoned dish; it will satisfy your hunger, but it won’t taste good. ~Joe Paterno
Don’t aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally. ~David Frost
