As much of the US is dealing with a heat wave (we’re always hot in FL), I figured now was an ideal time to make some frozen fruit bars and share with everyone.
But, before I do that…
here’s some food for thought…
Instead of buying commercially made pre-packaged frozen fruit (and I use that term loosely) bars try making your own!
Here’s why!
Mind you, I have not eaten any of the Whole Fruit Frozen Fruit Bars and I’m sorry for singling just them out as I’m sure there are many (if not the majority) frozen fruit bars that fall in the same category…lacking fruit & adding other nonsense you don’t need…but their info. was easily accessible thus they’re the example here.

Notice the ingredients: Water being first! Then strawberries followed by sugar, corn syrup and few other things….
hmmmm one type of sugar wasn’t enough? had to go with sugar AND corn syrup!
Oh but don’t forget to notice they do admit to using “chunks of real fruit”…
WOW whole chunks huh?!
Why would anyone buy these?
You could make your own in a matter of minutes (ok so add a few hours freezing time) for less the price and you know exactly what’s going into them…real fruit! no sugar, no corn syrup, no preservatives, artificial colorings, etc.
Homemade frozen fruit bars and popsicles are easy to make.
I made Pineapple, Strawberry, Orange bars last night.
Here’s how simple it is.
For this recipe I used:
1 cup pineapple
1/2 cup orange
1/2 cup strawberry
blend the fruit together in blender or puree in food processor, add 1/2 tsp fresh lemon juice, 2 tbs. water and that’s it!
IF, and only IF your fruit isn’t sweet enough for you…add 1 tbs sugar or you can use a bit of stevia or agave but you don’t have to.
Blend/puree everything and then pour into containers.
I suggest investing in reusable popsicle molds because it’s eco-friendly (reusable) rather than what others may do (and you can if you want) by using mini papercups and pouring fruit into those and putting sticks in and freezing that way.
Let freeze til hard (about 4 hours).
Then enjoy!
Strawberry Frozen Fruit Pops
2 cups of cut up fresh strawberries
1/2 tsp lemon juice
2 tbs water
blend the strawberries in blender or puree in food processor, add 1/2 tsp fresh lemon juice, 2 tbs. water and that’s it!
IF, and only IF your fruit isn’t sweet enough for you…add 1 tbs sugar or you can use a bit of stevia or agave but you don’t have to.
Blend/puree everything and then pour into containers.
Let freeze til hard (about 4 hours).
Then enjoy!
See how easy and all natural these are when you make them yourself!
Why settle for artificial funk when you can have the real deal?
Question of the day:
What is your favorite fruit?
