des·per·a·tion
[des-puh-rey-shuhn] –noun
1. the state of being desperate or of having the recklessness of despair.
2. the act or fact of despairing; despair.
Ok this probably won’t set well with some but it has to be said.
We’ve all seen the ads and postings on forums, yahoogroups and network arenas where someone is practically begging for sales and/or parties.
You can sense the desperation in their post.
“Please HELP me, I’m short of meeting my quota”
“HELP me, I need to send Jane to Girl Scout Camp and I didn’t know it was going to cost so much”
“Will you please please please hold a party for me because I have to have so many parties before I’m removed from the company”
“Please HELP me, it’s my son’s birthday and I need to have a party” (hmmm always wondered on these since birthday’s and holidays are same day every year, why didn’t this person just budget or plan ahead for it?)
Anyhow, I could go on and on but I think y’all get the idea.
All these posts sound desperate…All pleas and cries for help.
Sorry women but in business, you as the business owner or consultant, representative, distributor..whatever you want to call yourself, you are there for the CLIENT not vice versa. The client isn’t there for YOU. You are to provide a service, product, etc. that the client wants and can use and be happy with. The client shouldn’t be ‘guilted’ into buying from you.
The client should WANT to purchase from you, and it’s your “job” to market your product or service and show the client what they have to gain by your product or service.
It sounds pretty desperate when you see all the posts and emails crying for HELP. That’s not a very professional first impression that’s for sure. Desperation makes you appear far from professional, makes you look like you and/or your business are not of quality; otherwise, you wouldn’t have to beg people to buy from you.
Always wondered why I never saw any of these people post or email when they’re not totally desperate. Which they should be doing as they should be actively marketing and promoting their product as well as networking. Instead, they only post when they’re up against the wall and desperation has set in.
Guess they don’t realize that reliable, reputable, steady posters and networkers gain the confidence of potential clients moreso than the once a month cries of desperation.
If they’d only market regularly they’d appear serious and professional, then perhaps they’d have the sales they so desperately need.
Just food for thought from one who’s seen waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many cries for “Help, I’m only $300 short of meeting my quota. If I don’t get it in time, I’ll be kicked out of the company” lately.
Conduct yourselves professionally and maturely, not desperately and odds are you’d do better and not have to beg for sales!

Ya I don’t get that either. One gal even admitted that she WAS desperate. Um ok so what will you do next month to meet you quota? Who wants a business based on mercy sales.

I will never ever buy from someone with a post like that. Sorry but you should plan your money better!

Totally agree. Desperate Housewives need to know when to call it quits if something’s not working for them. I refuse to run a business like that. The old says goes you catch more flies with honey. Positive contribution rather than ragging all the time will get you more sales.
