What gets you motivated?
A new pair of running shoes?
Fear of failure?
Desire for accomplishment?
A number on the scale?
A time on the stop watch?
While motivation gets you started, you have to keep going even when you don’t feel motivated!
Tips to staying motivated
- Set achievable goals.
- When you reach a goal, set a new one!
- Remind yourself of why you’re doing what you’re doing and the anticipated outcome from achieving it.
- Reward yourself mid way.
- Imagine the goal already being accomplished and the feelings you’ll experience when it is.
- Be flexible-Don’t berate yourself if you miss a day or don’t make progress as quickly as you had anticipated-just keep going!
- Vary your routine-change it up so you don’t get bored.
- Have an accountability friend or coach to help you along the way.
