Bitterness imprisons life; love releases it.
Harry Emerson Fosdick
Wow, I just got an email that was just reeking of bitterness….ewwwwwwww!
I know lately I’ve been thinking and soul searching and spending more time with God and I pray that I would never end up like this person. If I didn’t know now what I do, I may have very well ended up like this person. The difference is, I do know the ill effects of being bitter and do not want that in my life. Breaking the chain and seeking those things that are love, faith, hope, good, pure is what one must do to stay out of that pit of despair and bitterness.
Dictionary.com defines bitterness as resentful or cynical.
Personally, I do not want to be that way nor do I want it in my life–nor does anyone else–if you’re bitter, resentful or cynical who is going to want to be around you? nobody!
Being bitter only hurts yourself-it alienates people from your life, it damages your relationship with God, and keeps you from being the person you were meant to be.
Your friends and family suffer as do you-it hurts everyone you’re around and soon you’ll find there’s nobody around if you don’t change your thoughts and your ways.
Hope is forgotten when you’re bitter, and without hope you’ll be sidetracked (if not derailed) by your focus on whatever your problem is (or may have been). Instead, focus on the positive, stand in faith, have hope, make love a part of your life.
If you have any issues with someone or have experienced something in your life that you think entitles you to be bitter, give it to God….let go, let God…Cast your cares to Him. Let Him deal with it.
Be thankful and grateful for all the good in your life-everyone has some good positive aspects of their life-think of those and be grateful for those rather than dwell on darkness, gloom and doom.
Job 21:25
Another man dies in bitterness of soul, never having enjoyed anything good.
Matthew 6:14-15
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Hebrews 12:15
See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.
Enjoy life and love!

It is impossible for you to be angry and laugh at the same time. Anger and laughter are mutually exclusive and you have the power to choose either. ~Dr. Wayne Dyer
