Do you find yourself in the position of a marionette-a puppet manipulated from above by strings attached to its jointed limbs?
Or perhaps, you’re the puppet master and pulling someone else’s strings.
Control means to exercise restraint or direction over; dominate; command.
It can also be the act or power of controlling; regulation; domination or command.
Other words for control are constrain, govern, rule, manage, govern, restrain.
A control freak is somebody who has to control how everything around them is done.
I blogged about playing it safe & being cautious, and part of that can be control issues.
Only going for things that you know you can have control over is much more cautious and safer than extending past your fears and reaching for new goals, relationships.
We can (and should) control our tempers, our tongues/words (they can give life or destroy), our exercise & dietary habits yet, we should not try to control people (our loved ones or otherwise) or every situation in our life-it can lead to stress, depression, frustration and disappointment.
When we try to control everything that means we don’t trust that God will handle the situation.
We cannot trust in men (people) but we can trust in Him to fulfill His promises.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
We cannot have control every aspect of our life…
release it, rest in Him and know that things will work out.
Perhaps not in the time nor in the exact way that you may want but, things do work out.
Cut those strings and release yourself & anyone that you may be trying to control from your controlling ways so that you and they can experience all there is waiting for them!
