As some may know, my daughter adopted a turtle from her friend.
Of course, I had to research yellow belly turtles…
and after much apprehension I relented let her bring him home.
Originally, he was known as Leonardo….
though after countless hours of watching Doctor Who (can never get enough of this show-loving David Tennant as The Doctor–and of course most know I want to go to England and well even more reason now!), Leonardo has been renamed TARDIS.
He is kinda cute though.
Cute enough that I’ve started to feed him some romaine lettuce myself in addition to the other pellets, insects he gets.
I tried to get a picture of him with his mouth open, but do you know how hard it is to focus on a turtle with one hand and feed with another hoping he doesn’t bite you and that you don’t drop the camera in the water!?
I did manage to sort of figure out how to take a quick video on my regular camera, but discovered that I cant edit it (cut off the beginning and end where he’s doing nothing) so sorry about those parts. But here’s a 30 second video where you can see how he grabs the lettuce and takes it under water to eat. (Y’all do remember that I am easily entertained right?!)
