Do you think when you respond via email, tweet, update Facebook or do you just type a one word or one line answer and not really think about how it may come across?
Do you know the definition of no?
According to Dictionary.com
No means:
1. (a negative used to express dissent, denial, or refusal, as in response to a question or request)
2. (used to emphasize or introduce a negative statement): Not a single person came to the party, no, not a one.
3. not in any degree or manner; not at all (used with a comparative): He is no better.
If you have a potential client who asks you a question, are you going to respond with the word no or would you take the time to explain your answer a bit more in depth and not so short and abrupt?
I know one person whom I’ve seen many times on Facebook who anytime anybody asks a question, they shoot out a quick no without any further explanation.
Now mind you, no is the answer but how about “no, because….”
and then explain why or offer a reason but just “no”?!
Why would I want to do business with a person who responds like that?
If you were standing in front of someone and they asked you the same question, would you just blurt out “no” and walk away (end the conversation)
or would you explain why not, etc.?
I personally would like to get a responsive and polite answer rather than a quick millisecond of thought answer of “no”.
Is it just me who thinks that “no” as an answer is a bit abrupt and that person isn’t worthy of doing business with or does anyone else feel this way too?
