Crush The Brat – 1984 Subaru Brat
Many remember this car because of the jumpseats in the rear bed that were used to avoid the chicken tax (tariff) when importing them. Short version, adding the jumpseats changed the classification of this vehicle from a truck to a car, thus avoiding the tariff.
Brat stands for Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter.
The Brat also features sliding rear window, halo tops (some call them t-tops but the true name is halo tops for the Brat), side step, 4 speed manual.
and, Yes, in FL at least, it’s legal to ride in the back. Per FL Statute Over 18 yrs of age do not require seat belts to ride in the bed of a truck, under 18 do require restraints (unless emergency) and Crush has the original seat belts so anyone can legally ride in the jumpseats.
Crush is available for use in commercials, videos, movies, photo shoots, events.
