It’s been awhile since I posted green tips and with Valentine’s Day being one of the largest wasteful holidays (other than Christmas) I figured now would be the time to share some green how to’s.
Not that I am celebrating Valentine’s Day but to those who do…
Pass on giving store bought cards…I know the thought of it…but really how many cards truly say exactly what you mean anyhow? Make your own.

Make a heartfelt gift like this 52 Reasons I love you card book
Buy living flowers or a plant instead of flower bouquets that will die in a few days anyhow.
Give organic chocolate.
Stay home and prepare a romantic dinner of organic local foods rather than going out to an over priced, over crowded restaurant. (check out these natural vegan aphrodisiacs!)
Give the gift of memories & experiences instead of material things. Go for an excursion to the beach, woods, somewhere secluded and romantic.
Take a couples yoga class.
Get a couples massage.
Question of the day
How are you spending Valentine’s Day?
I am loving these eco friendly ideas for Valentines Day! I especially like the couples yoga idea! Thank you for posting!
I LOVE that idea with the cards! So cute! OMG!
I love the plant idea too. Flowers are so expensive and jacked up on V-day, I hate my husband paying $70. on flowers for me when they die after a week or 2. Especially now that we have a baby, it’s just wasteful. Unless he finds a good deal, then I wouldn’t reject flowers
Thanks for the tips!
We don’t celebrate Valentines day. We do, however, frequently find fun experiences to have together. (You just reminded me that I need to get or make cards for the kids to give out at school…)
Love the green heart and theme, Tara. I am making a special meal for my Valentine – won’t be buying cards etc.
I love that 52 reasons I love you idea! So cute. And I totally think that gifting memories/experiences is way better :D. Too bad my fiance and I are long distance currently and won’t get to see one another this V-day!
I love coupon books or scrap books. Homemade things like that take such caring and creativity! Plus it is a time to reflect on all the happy memories and maybe jog your memory for ideas on things yet to plan
